Allium Türlerinin Islahında Haploidi Tekniğinden Yararlanma

Abstract

Male and female gametophytes are used in production of haploid plants. Allium species respond to gynogenesis. To obtain haploid
embryos, from onion, flowering garlic and leeks plants, flower bud, ovule and ovary culture are used. In this paper, gynogenesis application,
factors affecting the success of haploid plant production via gynogenesis are explained and availability of this method in onion breeding
studies is discussed.
