Abstract

Poppy is both a medicinal and edible oil plant. The essential goals in Poppy’s breeding could be summarized as to increase seed’s
functional enhancement, maturity, resistance against diseases and breeding species with high edible oil concentration and low or cultivars
with high morphine, noscapin, codein and tebain for utilization in pharmaceutical industries. Selection, hybridization, mutation and
polyploidization are four methods to breed poppy and acquiring appropriate varieties.
