Abstract

The academic works on Tafsir in Turkey began with the establishment of first faculty of theology at Ankara University in 1951 and other theology faculties in the course of time. The works onvTafsir between 1949 and 1990 have mostly focused on history of Tafsir and Qur’anic sciences.From 1980s onwards, we see diversity in the fields of search. These studies of Tafsir vary from the thematic and semantics studies to the researches on works made by orientalists and contemporary
approaches to the Qur’an. The translations from Arab and Western literature have had a main effect on these studies. On the other hand symposiums have paved the way for the methodological discussions on Tafsir and the coordination between faculties.
