Sakarya İli’nde Dış Mekan Süs Bitkileri Yetiştiriciliği Potansiyeli, Problemleri ve Çözüm Önerileri

Abstract

Sakarya Region, thanks to its favorable climatic conditions and soil properties, can be described as an area of genetic resources and an area
of geographical expansion for outdoor ornamental plants. Furthermore, advantages such as geographic location of the area; proximity to big
cities such as Ankara, Istanbul and Bursa; ease of transportation; proximity of the area to the markets of Caucasus and the Middle East Region;
and existence and use of appropriate land and cheap labor constitutes a distinct advantages for growing commercial outdoor ornamental plants
in Sakarya. Because of those advantages, most of the plant species which are grown abroad anda re used frequently in landscape applications
started to be grown successfully in Sakarya. Due to this development plants, which were imported from abroad with high costs ten years
ago, started to be grown and to be exported successfully. Thanks to the projects carried out in the region over the past decade, the number of
enterprises and volüme of production increased 6-7 times and 10-12-times respectively. By means of academic researches; organization
of producers; finding solutions to the problems encountered in the production and marketing; Sakarya Region has a potential to become an
important outdoor ornamental plant center for our country and for the whole Europe in a near future.
