Abstract

As the name suggest, real-time PCR is a technique used to monitor the progress of a PCR reaction in real-time.
Quantitative real-time-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) technology is many alternative instruments and fluorescent
probe systems have been developed recently. The technique of real-time PCR has features that make its use
advantageous in a wide range of applications. The development of fluorescent methods for a closed tube polymerase
chain reaction has greatly simplified the process of nucleic acid quantification. Real-time PCR applications include:
quantitative mRNA expression studies, DNA copy number measurements in genomic or viral DNAs, allelic
discrimination assays or SNP genotyping, drug therapy efficacy, DNA damage measurement.
