Typical warm and temperate climate is dominant in and around of Antalya, Adana and Mersin provinces have coasts of Mediterranean.
Mediterranean Sea is saltier comparing to the other world seas. Limiting factors on productivity of Mediterranean Sea is scarcity of nutrients like
phosphate, nitrate and nitrite which nourish the plants. Scarcity of nutrients causes decreasing of living aquatic species. Scarce nutrient and high
salinity decrease plankton development. Terrestrial inputs are the densest in the Gulf of İskenderun in Northeast Mediterranean Sea. The Gulf is
exposed to dense environmental effects by industrial establishments, centres of population, discharges of rivers and ship traffic. These activities
raise pollution to significant levels in coasts of Mediterranean Sea. Conclusively, coastal regions of big cities which don’t operate facilities of waste
water treatment effectively get high nutrient loads. Unplanned construction and activities of making new agricultural fields on coastal regions
decrease surfaces of wetlands and lost of biological diversity in Mediterranean.
