The microalgae include important food substances for aquatic animals in aquaculture and human health as well as have biological and
ecological roles in aquatic ecosystems additionally. Nowadays, numerous microalgae species are used in industrial purposed biotechnological
studies for their high protein, beta-carotene, unsaturated fatty acid, vitamin and pigment contents. Biotechnological studies have been carrying
on with especially species belong to Chlorella, Scenedesmus, Dunaliella, Spirulina and Haematococcus genus since 1950’s. Microalgae are
utilized as pigment source for aquaculture of trout, shrimp, ornamental fish and salmon. These pigment substances are important for increasing
of survival rates and rapid development of fish besides their colouring features. β-carotene, astaxanthin, phycocyanin, xanthophyll,
phycoerythrin are obtained from pigment contain microalgae are widespread in the nature.Solving the two biggest problems of fish
farmers may possible by means of adding natural microalgae products into fish feeds: The first of them is resistance against infections and
diseases of farmed fish and the second one is flavour, tissue and skin colour.
