Quinoa has been cultivated in the Andean region of South America for thousands of years but it is a new plant for Turkey.
Although it is originally from the family of spinach, it is regarded as a plant that enters the grain group in the world.
Kinoa has high nutritional values that provide significant benefits for human health. Compared to other cereal groups, it has a
higher and quality protein content, especially contain high amounts of unsaturated fat and essential amino acids. Furthermore,
they are a significant source of dietary fibers. One of the most important features of qinoa is that its seeds do not contain gluten.
For this reason it is an important food source for celiac disease (gluten enteropathy), who is a gluten allergen. Due to these
important features, the importance of quinoan both food and feed plant in Europe is increasing. The aim of this study is to give
general information about general characteristis of quinoa, farming, breeding, usage areas and nutritioanl values.
