Turkey, in terms of plant species richness has an important position in the world. Turkey has approximately 9000 plant species and contains
11.500 taxa. In our country, it is estimated that over 1000 species of plants used as medicinal and aromatic plants. A major part of medicinal and
aromatic plants collected from their natural areas are being evaluated. However, very few species are cultivated in our country. Cumin, anise, fennel,
coriander, black cumin, mint and basil are some examples. In recent years, trade of species such as oregano and capers has been started. In this
article, expansion areas and trade of Origanum species, which are important in the medicinal and aromatic plants of Turkey has been investigated.
