Abstract

The matters that insects need as well as many organisms can be classified in three parts as protein, carbohydrates and fats. Additionally,
taking of the water and minerals is also important for insects. Similarly, it is known that micronutrients also has an important function in
develomment process of insects. Nitrogen is the most important nutrient element limiting the growth of the insects has been asserted. Actually,
leaf nitrogen content is an appropriate indicator to assess the quality of plants for many insect. Because, most of herbivore insects generally
prefer plants that has high nitrogen content as their food. Insects show three reactions to imbalancing foods. They can alter the total amount of
ingested food; they can move to another food that has different nutrient balance; or they can regulate the effectiveness of nutrients. The
information taken from insect groups show that haemolymph has an important role in food balancing mechanisms of insects.
